Being a Photographer for the Burley Farmers Market
Whether it's one of the most famous markets in the country or just a few stands in a parking lot, every farmers' market is a photogenic treasure with compelling visual stories to tell (1). The produce and atmosphere are one of a kind. Each photographer we teamed up with last year brought a different authenticity and fingerprint to the Burley Farmers Market. We are thrilled to be able to have the same opportunity this year.
Details
We would like 20-25 edited pictures from our photographers. Depending on the market size, we may have you take pictures only in a particular zone or cover the entire market. Different photographers may be present for large markets and cover different zones. The specific details will be given on a market by market basis.
We will be using these pictures to advertise the market and highlight our vendors. Please have the edited pictures sent to burleyfarmersmarket.com within 7 business days from your scheduled market date. (We understand this is considered a fast turnaround time. Please make sure you are in communication with Britney if you are not able to meet this deadline.)
Pricing
We want to allow you to set up a booth in the markets. We will be waving your $40 dollar booth fee and allowing you to have a 10X10 space to showcase your skill and market your business, as you see fit. Depending on the amount of market sponsorship, the market managers may deliver a beginning payout upon agreement with photographers. This will be received when the assignment is complete. Each year this may vary based on market sponsorships.
Tell a story with your pictures.
We are hoping for images that convey the ambiance of the Burley farmers Market. Consider focusing on details, large and small, including the unique signage, compelling displays, farmers, vendors and market managers.
Just a reminder to always practice basic etiquette.
When you're snapping pictures around the market, please remember a few basic rules.
• Do ask the farmer or vendor if it's okay to take pictures, especially if you're taking pictures of staff or other shoppers. Most of the time, it's just fine, but not everyone likes having their picture taken-just be aware of this.
• Don't start re-arranging produce. Farmers take a lot of pride in how they display their products.
Try no to get in the way of the vendor design and other shoppers.
• Do tag the market and the vendors using the #lovemymarket #burleyfarmersmarket, #burleymarket when posting your gorgeous pictures on social media.
